I recently reached the conclusion of privatizing marriage on my own and had never heard the position articulated in the debate. I found this brilliant video while searching for others that supported my position. Such a clear and well articulated presentation, thank you.

I support marriage being a private affair between the two individuals; their families; church, and community. What could be done is that if any two adults by ceremony or written contract/covenant establish a domestic relationship, it would be given legal recognition with the various rights/responsibilities attached. The state would recognize the private contract and not judge whether it is a "marriage" or "domestic partnership"

Preach it BROTHER!

Marriage violates separation of church and state.

No divorce. No regulation and lawyers to regulate personal relationships. No domestic abuse laws neccessary. Just leave. Marriage has no legal significance it remains strictly a religious cereminy for those want it.

I agree conpletely. state offiatied marriage amounts to the institutionalisation of love, in my opinion.
This video got the gears between my ears spinning.
Since marriage is a religious institution, and baptism is also a religious institution; why do we tolerate getting the state permission, in the form of a license, to get married, while the majority of us would be outraged at the idea of a baptism license?
Churches issue baptismal certificates that are 100% legal documents; why not allow them to issue marriage certificates, keep the state out of it, and be done with the whole thing?
