Sol Sender - Obama Logo Design Part 2 of 2

Part 2 of 2

Creative director Sol Sender tells the story of conception and birth of the Obama 08 logo, including the strategy behind it, developmental concepts and finalist designs for the identity not chosen by the campaign. Sender, now a strategist with design agency VSA Partners (http://www.vsapartners.com) in Chicago, was creative director and principal of his own design firm, Sender LLC, when he was hired to create the campaign logo. In the fall of 2006, Sender and his team were engaged to do the work by MODE, a Chicago-based motion design studio with an existing relationship with David Axelrod, the Obama campaigns chief strategist. Obama 08 campaign took on design responsibility for the logo in mid-2007, and extended the identity across multiple applications.

obama had an awesome campaign, the best i've ever seen, it was just different and stood out and caught your attention, i think now alot of other politicians will try and be creative and do something different with their campaigns that will stand out as well

@Kitsune88 no. there was a bookstore called Backer books--still to be found online. there is something painted on an 8x4 panel on the front of the store that you'd be very interested to see. it was painted in august 2001.

Jesus, people. This is a clip about the design process of his campaign. I was hoping to see more comments from people that were actually interested in graphic design in stead of brainless douche bags bashing each other for having different values.

On that note, great video. It's very inspiring.

I don't think you understand what a disastrous thing it would be if he didn't accept the prize. It would be considered a huge insult for one, not to mention a public and international relations fiasco. They put him in a really awkward spot and it didn't do him any good. Kinda diminished the value of the peace prize too, I think.
