Some thirteen hundred Palestinian protestors and supporters marched down Canal Street and into the French Quarter rallying against Israel for its attacks in Gaza. The march showed solidarity and the power that peoples voices can be heard. Israel has been bombing the Gaza strip for the past week with airstrikes killing innocent women and children. The Palestinian death toll is now over 600, compared to 5 deaths for Israel.

I believe that there are freedom fighters, but I don't think that Hamas is one of them. I want to end the occupation, too. I hope that Palestine becomes a sovereign state, too. I want peace between Israel and Palestine, too. I don't think that killing and blowing up each other is the answer. I am pro-Israel and pro-Palestine but I don't think that killing is the answer. I hope that Jews and Palestinians can one day see that we have more in common than we realize.
