A couple years ago, I would tell you that Star Trek was only for losers. Then my friends and I decided to watch it together after finding my dad's DVDs, thinking one season was enough and we'd find something more interesting later on.

So far, we've watched the Original, Animated, Next Generation, Voyager, all eleven movies and are currently watching season 5 of Deep Space Nine.

Yet most people buy season tickets for sports or goes hunting every year but this is some how wrong which it isn't, that serious thing is called life people will do what makes them happy.

Well, some episodes were not so great. A few in the original series seemed to promote sexist ideas (Turnabout Intruder). There were others that really taught bad science (Dear Doctor in Enterprise). So, there were some bad marks, but over all Star Trek tried to hold a candle to decency, i'll certainly agree with you there.

...What?!

No. You're really not getting it. If Scotty inspired a thousand young men and women to become engineers, and Spock helped tens of thousands think about the possibility of being physicists, astronauts, astronomers, chemists, etc... Then Star Trek really is responsible for impacting "the soul" of humanity.
