  • Their harmony is great and it is closest to the original way it was sung. I'm almost 80 and we were taught this song in elementary school. Doesn't sound gospel to me!. Might consider Ray Charles' version gospel. This was sung beautifully. No inflections; just straight singing. One of the best out there. Go Howard.

  • ...do you not know the first word?

  • I love this arrangement but the sliding from note to note drives me crazy at times

  • Amazing job everyone! I sang this song years ago and have been looking for a good version of it since. Just fantastic. Brings tears of joy to my eyes hearing it again.

  • doesnt matter the arrangment. how many choirs sing the WHOLE song?! bravo!

  • I don't hear any gospel "singing". The accompaniment may suggest a gospel link, but their singing is very true the brothers' Johnson arrangement.

  • @7820dramaqueen The best is indeed the soul children of Chicago’s arrangement however this is an excellent rendition

  • The truest of all the athems songs I have heard. God Bless! May send my CHILD THERE.

  • Honestly, I love this version of this song. The melody of the howard singers is the closest to the original melody that I've heard of any choir. The only difference is the music. I wish it was a pipe organ behind them instead of the classical guitar but it's still good.
