Another lesser known term for a monroe with no gem is "Chrome Crawford" because of Cindy Crawford. Some people might also say a true Monroe is only if it is high near the crease.

Technically it is correct for any upper side lip piercing with a straight barbell instead of ring. Madonna is also acceptable, but fewer piercers will understand the importance of the term...

@SONGFREAKS These terms are about as relevant as "shark bites" and all the other made up terms. Monroe was the first one used for the upper side lip piercing so it is the most recognized...

Also, we use 3" needles to help ensure the angles of the piercing are optimal (more leverage and a cleaner line of sight)... sometimes it looks thicker than it is because it is long.

AND, you can still get the same size tiny gemstones on the outside. Plus once it is healed if you want to wear those really thin pieces it should still fit with very little effect ...

@SONGFREAKS That's a very astute observation. The needle is probably thicker than others you have seen for a couple reasons...
I experienced a shit load of pain ! It was worst than my industrial piercing and that shit was unbearable !

@Preslee1992 Sorry to hear about your experience. Typically these lip piercings are not as painful as cartilage... but everyone feels things differently and every piercer also has a different affect.
