Look, I love a good "Cops Getting Busted" video as much as the next guy- probably more than most, but I'm getting the feeling here that "Sgt Perna" is simply an old, desk riding paper pusher and not the departments policy spokesperson. Also, the fact that he clearly isn't a very spoken good communicator exacerbates him looking like a goof- and yeah, maybe he shouldn't be the guy answering the phone- but I don't know if this speaks to institutional misconduct with that particular department.

Holy crap, if he doesn't know what the policy is then he shouldn't answer the phone, if I would have said half of what that officer said I would have been fired, point blank,.just sounded like he didn't want to do his job, he would rather follow the cliche of coffee and doughnuts

This Sgt is clearly an apathetic and complacent officer just going through the motions. Completely out of touch with actual police work and just used to people doing what he says and not questioning him and having other officers do his work for him.

@albeper7 haha, WHAT??? You think the caller mistreated this SGT? A Sgt is not some rookie - he is a supervisor!!!! If the Sgt doesn't have the answer, then who would?
-
THAT WAS NOT RIGHT THE WAY THIS GUY TREATED SGT. PERNA
-
@ed2276 Then he shouldn't answered the phone if he didn't know how to properly direct the person to the right divison. The cop even admitted that he handled the call poorly and then didn't care. If he was an actual citizen with a serious complaint, is that how they should be responded too? What if the caller was you?

@BoulderCop164 Actually the call is to a public/government entity the conversation was pertaining to protocol of public/local government policy. Entities that provide a service to the public can be recorded without providing notice. The guy who recorded the conversation was bound by his personal ethics to inform Sgt. Perna of his intent of the call. Public/Government Officials can be recorded while performing their duties with exception to creating a dangerous/hazardous situation.

yeah and maybe you sir will have a bad expierience and get shot in the face!!!! good day sir

Correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't it illegal to record a conversation with someone and post it on the internet without them being aware of it? Shady website you guys are running here...It sounds like a lot of disgruntled citizens who had bad experiences with law enforcement are using this complaint center as a vessel for their revenge. The problem is that most of these citizens probably had a good reason for their bad experience with law enforcement and deserved it.

Evidence...At 5:35 he says " I am a retired police detective." LOCK HIM UP! We all know he is to stupid to be a police officer. Oh and sorry the name is KAMAU, not KAMAL as I previously posted.
Just so everyone knows... Sgt. Perna's supervisor contacted our office to inform us that an Internal Affairs investigation was opened against Sgt. Perna, regarding his conduct during this phone call.
