This is a lo-fi photo montage of my 2-week stay volunteering in New Orleans. The music is a song I recorded with my DV camera in a 3rd floor classroom-turned-sleeping quarters at the deserted St. Mary of the Angels School in the 9th Ward. The musician is my new friend, Quentin, a fellow Common Ground volunteer from Colorado by way of Knoxville. A couple of the photos were also taken by a guy named Logan, who I let loose with my camera when I was in the kitchen carving turkeys on Thanksgiving. All in all, it was an enlightening, inspiring, laugh-filled experience. If you've ever considered doing relief/volunteer work in a land far from home, my advice is DO IT. Now!
What a mess. The 9th ward, I mean. The video rocks!
