Poli Sci 124C Final Project

Minority Rap
Written and performed by Group 3

Daniel Miller:
During lunchtime I like to rap,
The other kids laugh and call it crap,
They make me feel bad and call me names,
like to exclude me from their games,

I've got some haters and I don't know why,
They push me to the limit and make me cry,
Wanting nothing more than to see me fail,

Imma keep hustlin' and I'll prevail,
I'm just doing my thing and having fun,
gunna make a career of it when I'm done.

I don't let them bring me down
They tryin to treat me like a clown
I've got a future and I know it,
Imma stay in school and keep on growin,

Michelle Fong & Daneille McKay:
my high school friends were Asian and Black
We would have talks about what we lacked
It all came down to the color of our skin
Somethin` we couldn't control or have a say in

They say America is a land of the free
But it seems that those who say that
don't know what its like to be me
I don't see no racial equality

Doing my job to the best of my ability
didn't realize the majority were against me
no I never had a gun or a knife
Been straight edge my entire life

so here i am the member of a community
doing what i can to help those around me
got in one little protest
the government got scared
they said- you moving on up in the political sphere
Arash Parsi:
my teachers treated me like i was dumb as a melon
I think they thought id be a future felon
but I worked hard and proved em wrong
i never gave up cuz im the bomb

the color of my skin is different than my peers
but ive been practicin law for the past 10 years
I worked harder in school and even harder in college
aint no question that my heads filled with knowledge

i didnt listen to any negative word
i didnt act like i was part of a herd
i just set my mind and focused on my path
now i put in work and enjoy the aftermath

Exclusive Bonus verse not shown in the video
Cherry Taing:
Didn't know being a young adult was so hard to do
People judge one another and rumors spread fast like the flu.
Just cause we all don't look the same
Doesn't mean we don't share feelings, thoughts, and pain.

Growing up I was told to be something I didn't want to be
Why can't they just let me follow my heart and let me do me?
No matter what though I'm gon do my thing on this stage
Watch me rise cause I'm in the race takin' the winner's place.
