...Dr. Michael Brown speaking at the University of Southern California...
He is the author of the multivolume series of books "Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus".
-I would also like to recommend the recently released book "Jewish answers to jewish questions concerning the messiahship of jesus"
-God said "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways"
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind"
I would like to elaborate on this as it relates to one aspect of the response Dr Brown gave.
The idea that the messiah would bring peace to earth should be understood in the context of what Christ promises to us. He promises peace/rest to those who abide in Him. His words "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest" are a promise to us all. There are countless testimonies from people who have experienced this peace. If only we believed...
Next, lets look at the accusation that the Messiah was to have rebuilt the jerusalem temple. What is a temple? It is a dwelling place of God. It is not necessarily a physical structure. The following reading is from the book of John:
The Jews then responded to him, "What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?"
Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."
They replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" But the temple he had spoken of was his body.
After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said.
Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. Also in the gospel we find the following:
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own"

Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)!
God is not the only one, however, who uses forecasts of future events to get people's attention. Satan does, too. Through clairvoyants (such as Jeanne Dixon and Edgar Cayce), mediums, spiritists, and others, come remarkable predictions, though rarely with more than about 60 percent accuracy, never with total accuracy. Messages from Satan, furthermore, fail to match the detail of Bible prophecies, nor do they include a call to repentance.
The acid test for identifying a prophet of God is recorded by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:21-22. According to this Bible passage (and others), God's prophets, as distinct from Satan's spokesmen, are 100 percent accurate in their predictions. There is no room for error.
As economy does not permit an explanation of all the Biblical prophecies that have been fulfilled, what follows in a discussion of a few that exemplify the high degree of specificity, the range of projection, and/or the "supernature" of the predicted events. Readers are encouraged to select others, as well, and to carefully examine their historicity.
(1) Some time before 500 B.C. the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel's long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be "cut off," killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ. The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia's King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 B.C., 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. (Remember that due to calendar changes, the date for the start of Christ's ministry is set by most historians at about 26 A.D. Also note that from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. is just one year.) Jesus' crucifixion occurred only a few years later, and about four decades later, in 70 A.D. came the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus.

Melchizedek wasn't an Egyptian and Abraham paid tithes to him
he was a priest and a king.

Reference to a priestly messiah is a reference to the Maccabee family, the Hashmonim. The fact is that they were not supposed to take up the throne, but since they did so, and since they didn't restore the throne to its rightful heirs, they became corrupt & lost power. Since the time of Aharon, priesthood belongs only to his descendants, and the rulership rightfully belongs to tribe of Yehuda. Those who flaunted this started problems -there's not any concept of a "priest-king" - that's Egyptian.

@BarbarianLion Dude! I don't care what pagan imagery of Christ the present day so called ''Christian Church'' presents him to look like its all pagan and this discussion is vain in the eyes of God Almighty! Just note God is God of all- it don't matter if your White, Black, Yellow or Purple and if you think otherwise the true Spirit of God is not in you ! Sorry for being Bold in the Spirit! I praise the one God that created man from the dust and that's all!

I don't think you want Jesus, nor do I think you'd recognize him walking in the world, for Jesus would not be so arrogant to claim to be the son of God, and would already be walking among fools anonymously. Ask yourself this: If you had been given the task of providing the Restoring force to all humankind, how exactly would YOU go about even announcing yourself to a world of insanity ? Nobody would listen to you, and they'd demand parlor tricks, when they can't even accomplish loving each other.

@Wisdomized4Christ If that's the case why do we always see paintings and pictures of all the people in the bible always being white when in fact they were a people of color. Why did they put up a white (european) fake jesus and they bible clearly says that no man has seen his face. Christ is, was, and will always be a man of color.

Black People are More Special than what they think !!! we are the direct descendants from god himself, for example, moses was hebrew/negro but when he went into egypt he was mistaken as an egyptian, which means theres a difference among the two tribes, in the bible in reads that hebrews were often mistaken as egptians/africans .... dont let white people brain wash you into thinking otherwise shalom
KingOfAfrica2012 1 week ago
@mrsroyal Shalom my sister, and no africans are different from hebrews, Jesus was hebrew (nigger) and fled to egypt around 7Oad becuz the roman empire started to slaughter his israelites, but eventually was cruisified becuz of being a nigger/hebrew, later on africans SOLD us (hebrews) to the american government becuz we were the chosen people of god (yaweh) and they wasnt peace & shalom, we are not africans we are the true hebrews of bible context
