A talk with Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh.
Qazi Khamosh is the Secretary-General of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) in Pakistan. The ARD comprises the two largest political parties in Pakistan-the Pakistan Peoples Party PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N)-which together represent the majority of Pakistan's electorate. Mr. Khamosh was a close associate of BenazirBhutto, and is available to provide an insider's look at the PPP and the life of Bhutto and to speak on the future prospects for stability and democracy in Pakistan after her death, the role of the religious parties and the Madrasas, and what positive steps the United States can take. Mr.Khamosh is also the Founder and Chairman of Muslim Christian Federation International and a close partner in the International Center for Religion & Diplomacy's efforts to engage Pakistan's Madrasas and enhance their education. Most recently he led a new initiative to enhance awareness of and participation in the democratic and electoral processes among Madrasa teachers and students. These efforts played a key role in overcoming the perceptions among some Madrasa leaders that Islam is incompatible with democracy. Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh was also a guest at the Congressional breakfast at Capital hill recently and spoke about the invitation. He also talked about how Madrasas in the early centuries were a beacon of hope, education, reform and self analysis, now they are known as Universities.

The recent bomb blasts at Islamabad and Karachi don't depict a bright future regarding Pakistan trying to stand on its feet as a self financing country. Leaders like Asif Ali Zardari and Co are playing chess by creating inflation, uncertainty and just throwing aside by hypocrisy all their commitments of relief to the common man before the elections. The courts are not being restored to the level of justice demanded by them. The bomb blasts are a visible sign of reaction to these hateful actions.
