  • NEWSFLASH!! SEPTA is taking out the flashers and gates at the crossing at the Drexelbrook stop and at the Marshall Rd. crossing and replacing them with standard traffic signals. Are they going to do the same with the rest of them?

  • yes they are replacing the gates on beatty road and at the pine ridge station. I do not know if they are replacing them at paper mill but i think most of the springfield stops are getting them so i'm assuming it is

  • Nice. I didn't know the trolleys had street crossings.

  • yes, there are dozens along this line thanks!

  • good vidio i liked the trolleys in the red white and blue. i use to go to springfield high school. I remember watching the trolley go by while in gym class. the rest of the class would be mad if i missed a ball but oh well

  • haha yeah my elementary school was right next to the 101 in Media as well and I would watch it go by during recess and out our classroom window

  • @CSXkid22

That's an idiotic thing to do if you ask me.

  • @Nekosys From what I heard, people weren't too happy about stopping at the gates. For those small cars, maybe it was a little overkill. Still, seems like a waste to go through the effort to place them, only to take them down...

  • @CSXkid22 why??????? is that not dangerous yet stupid to the full extent!!

  • Yes Paper Mill Rd. is also getting traffic signals as well. According to a trolley operator I talked to today the State is supposedly behind it.

  • Thanks. Yes I've seen covered-up traffic signals at Leamy Ave. and Saxer Ave. so I assume the rest of the crossings will get them, too. Amazing how they are getting away from something safe like gates and flashers and replacing them with something that makes the trolley line look like a busway.

  • My father used to operate them on all three lines....when they still ran the ardmore line....that was back when they ran the brills and interbourghs 80's cars and 01's where their numbers I think! Great videos!!!!

  • Those electronic bells are an abomination

  • How did you get that video on google maps?
