Bargain Grocery Shopping (Economic Meltdown Tips)

The grocery store is not the only place to shop for groceries. Big Box marts save money for those who like to (and are able to) buy in quantity, but dollar stores, 99 cent stores, discount 'general stores' (like Family Dollar and Dollar General) and other independent discount and dollar stores offer big savings on groceries and household merchandise.

I buy my bread at the Sara Lee outlet store. I buy their "feed bread" (sell by date is usually that day). They just take it off the rack and throw it into a large plastic bag, so you kind of have to take what you get. The last time I went I got 21 loafs of Sara Lee bread, 14 packages of Earthgrain flat buns, 3 packs of cheapo hotdog buns (fed to my chickens and made some croutons), and a loaf of name brand raisin bread...all for $2.50. Just sort it out at home and put it in the chest freezer.

sadly dollarstore where i live doesnt carry food like this its mostly canned food or junk food

i tried to shop for food at the $ store and got a nasty case of food poisoning. i was sick for a week and lost a lot of $ from not going to work. so if you think you will get the same quality food at the $ store then you are wrong
