I have always defended Sons and Daughters for this too. As you say at least they gave a reason for Patricia looking different.

What's amusing is that Alison was actually a somewhat different character than Pat - still a schemer, but she wasn't quite as borderline psychopathic as Pat was!

Fantastic! I was gutted when Pat left the series, but loved the storyline involving Alison-it was great that as the viewer we all knew she was Pat but none of the characters did. The story lines were so complicated with David returning with a woman he thought was Pat, and the episode where Roger lured Alison to his appartment and revealed that he knew she was Patricia!
It was awesome when Ms Wallace returned as Alison's twin sister! I miss the camp OTT storylines!
