Toronto Lightning Strike and Transformer Explosion, August 9 2009 - Enhanced!

Lightning strikes transmission lines and causes a transformer to explode on Sunday August 9th, 2009.

One interesting thing to note here is that lightning strikes a small power line tower that is MUCH shorter than the 200 foot metal tower that is only about 100 feet away, proving that lightning does NOT always strike the highest point,

That day i was arriving in toronto and as soon as we got in the hotel the power went out! We had to walk up 9 flights of stairs with 7 huge bags of luggage at 1:00 am

@cortexedge I think that was just the camera lowering the exposure because of the bright lightning. All the dimmer lights seem dark at that new exposure setting.

i have been down a long stretch of road at the beach - in an area that there isn't alot around between the neighborhood I was driving from to the town about 15 minutes away during a lightning storm - there was a bright flash of bluish green light when a transformer was struck by lightning. It was eerie and i was blinded for a moment because it was so bright! The camera did a great job capturing it! Nice Video

@scott2eh I don't think it was the camera... it's normal when a transformer blows up, the lights must go out.... because that's why the transformer was there, to power the lights and other stuff. :)
