Vamana Deva is a special incarnation of Lord Krishna (Vishnu). He appeared specifically to live with teh demons (demons are also part of God's creation).

Traditionaly Appearance Day of Vamana Deva celebrated by selecting a young devotee boy to play the part and except the worship.

This video is showing how devotees worshiping Vamana Deva in ISKCON Mayapur temple, September 2007.

    In the Sri Vamana avataram, Lord Narayana apeared to give salvation to Emperor Mahabali, in the form of a small boy "vamana".

    Hence on Vamana Dwadashi, a small boy is taken as Sri Vishnu's representative and worshipped.
