It will take the an underwater New York or a burning Los Angeles until all the ignorant hicks start to look back and say...."well, maybe science was right".

We can become energy independent, and save our world, but we need to do it NOW. Support Climate change legislation, call your senator, donate to rainforest restoration.

I think this is a pretty good explanation as to why we (mankind) haven't handled increased global warming earlier than the last decade. I believe however, that if we really are facing the disasters many geologists predict, than we are already too late. Maybe if we had started acting 50 years ago we could have made a small difference, like keep effects off for a longer time. But now I fear we can not do anything but wait to see what happens.

It was believed in the 70's we were going into an ice age. Consider the source, and who can gain monetarily, that is leading us to believe this is caused by burning oil.

No, social influence isn't my speciality in psychology, but the question is why our government doesn't have the 100 best experts working on precisely this problem? Thanks for your comment.

just a quick question: do you drive a solar powered or h-fuel car?

not sure why this matters, but I rarely drive any car -- I generally walk or take public transportation. if you are asking whether everything I do is maximally green, the answer is of course no.

Replace coal burning power plants with nuclear, as the French have done. Funny how the Western world thinks the French are so great, except when it comes to power. Also, stop trying to cripple the middle class with the new environmental indulgence, "carbon credits", which are designed to fatten the rich and will do nothing to help.
