Familiar poem by W.B. Yeats, set to music by Joseph Daniel Sobol. From the musical theater piece "In the Deep Heart's Core" filmed at the Bailiwick Arts Center in Chicago, Feb. 24, 1995. Performed by Sobol on vocal and cittern, with Kathy Cowan, Tom Orf (harmony vocals and dance steps), Beth Falcone (piano), Al Ehrich (bass), and Andrew Bird--back when Bird was playing a mean Irish fiddle

  • Yes. That is a 17" wide custom Sobell 12-string cittern--formerly known to its friends as Big Ed.

  • Sounds awesome Joe. I wonder what a hurdy gurdy would sound like this, faintly in the background.

  • Bird is such a beast..

  • awesome version!

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • Very nice indeed. Does the cittern have 12 strings? I seem to count 12 machine heads.
