Usually it's the Sunday following the "Heart of Illinois" Stunt contest (held in Iowa last 2 years!).
Last year we held it at the Aurora Municipal Airport (in Sugar Grove Illinois near US34 and Illinois 47. Like I mention, we hold a 1/2A stunt contest during the morning and the race in the afternoon. The Stunt Contest has the normal Pampa levels, but we all fly the Beginner Pattern. There are extra points for reed valve and old 049 engines, as well as solid wood wings.
This is a race we run once a year at Jim Renkar's 1/2A contest (1/2a stunt & the race). Rules are a Sig 1/2a Skyray, any Cox Reed valve engine, with a Black Widow tank (capacity only thing that counts, you can do anything to the venturi).
Starting must be by hand--no starting spring or electric starter. Prop must be a commercial prop.

Looks a bit like a sport version of mouse race without any landing gear... tell me more!
