@sbd45acp repair the blades or replace them, I didn't see excessive blade wear my last trip to Iraq there was wear on the leading edge of the tips, but we didn't use blade tape on these planes like the CH-46s and CH-53s but these planes do not use carbon fiber rotor blades. That landing was nothing the brown out was cake what you don't see is that the crew chiefs can still see the ground from the ramp and call the plane down.
@gosciu555 Well not really, yes in the beginning this thing sucked but like every other new invention it is slowly perfected. The fact that it's a plane and a helicopter is the reason the Marines use this baby. And they will soon add weaponry to it.
This whole project is a mess, they are wearing out a lot faster than assumed. Its junk, they went with a uselessly high risk design and now they're fucked.
How do you happen to be at this landing site? That must have been scary from the inside! It must have some serious brake on the props! They come to stop so fast. Have to wonder about silica static build up & sand abrasion of the carbon rotor blades on the takeoff. I wonder how they have addressed blade de-lamination that was prevalent during the 1st Gulf War?
@mongoose979 Doubtful, might be Nellis though, I'm not certain though as I'm not the one who shot the video.
