@dazwald after the bumper they appealed the result saying that rhinestone had been intimidated by pizzaro as spencer deliberately ran across off a straight line i think they probably let the result stand firstly as it was a story a flat jockey winning at the festival but more importantly pizzaro was clearly idling and found more whenever rhinestone moved upsides i think if an actual national hunt jockey rode pizzaro he would have forced him home for a clearer cut victory
Fantastic memories here! These highlights, when you watch them several years after the event, provide a great summary of the year. They also provide reminders of the part many placed horses (as well as winners) played in making the season's festival races terrifically exciting. Many thanks for the upload.
@azertyuiop32 Looking at that race I suspect some stewards would have reversed the placings. I find it hard to think he would not have won had he not been obstructed.
the cheltenham festival wasnt exactly a happy hunting ground for rhinestone cowboy.
he was unlucky in the bumper, got caught out big time with the how quick they galloped and jumped in the 2003 champion hurdle and was given a woeful ride in the 2004 coral cup
@azertyuiop32 I remember the fuss at the time ...I think Rhinestone was the favourite? when you look at the winning distance he was very unlucky not to get the race...
Best Mate, what a legend.

@jsilkcut
how the hell did pizzaro manage to keep that race. rhinestone cowboy was hampered at least twice and it clearly affected the result.
