  • I like your approach but I'm not a big fan of saying "may I TAKE 30 seconds of your time..." Perhaps I could replace with "May we TALK for 30 seconds so I can tell you why I'm calling and then you can decide if we talk more?"

  • @bchelms There's no "silver bullet." Sometimes I'll open with "This is a sales call. May I take 30 seconds..." Other times I'll open with an almost shy tone and say, "I'm wondering if you can help me..." or, "Mr. Jones, It's great to finally speak with you..." or "Mr. Jones, Thank you for picking up the phone..." The main goal in the opening is twofold: to get their attention to then pique their interest in hearing what you have to say, which better end in a thought-provoking question.
