Just my personal view on long term stretches. It works for some, but in my opinion for most its not worth it. Thanks for watching!

  • Ye i agree, i only like to stretch because i dont like too much chemicals in my hair. I would never do a 6 month + stretch, max id go is 3-4 months which i think is reasonable. I agree that everyine should get to know their own hair type and not do what everyone else is doing just because it worked for them. So yep! Even tho the video was lagging, the info was on point:-)

  • @jemjtt - agreed! thank you so much for continuing to listen despite the video and I enjoyed your comment, thank you!

  • This is a great video! When I did my first stretch back in '09, caused me the biggest horrible setback! I didn't know what I was doing but did a stretch cause everyone on the hairboards had success. Sept 2009, I made bsl and I wanted to do this 6 months stretch. When I got to 16 wks, i washed my hair in the sink & didn't section hair- caused matting all over my hair. Me, my family, No one, oil, conditioner, and Detangler could remove the knots. My stylist had to cut my hair to NL!!!! This was a

  • @sweetfm2008 - thank you for sharing! Yes, its SO difficult to jump headfirst into stretching for long periods. I'm sure your comment has helped many viewers, thank you again.

  • lool is it my computer making your video lag?

  • I do feel like stretching is not for everybody. No amount of stretching ALONE will help you retain length any more than you would if you were relaxing every 10 weeks. I personally feel like the length retention comes from maintaining your ends with moisture and protective styles. IMO stretching does keep your hair stronger in the long run because you are not dealing with relaxer overlap issues as frequently. I am so glad you let your voice be heard on this issue. Kudos :)

  • I accidentally stretched for 3 months and will not do that again. Ten to twelve weeks is good for me. Otherwise, my hair becomes very fragile. No benefits to stretching for me. Also, some of us already have thick hair. Seems like some stretchers do it, in hopes of getting thicker hair.

  • Thank you Girl, I am one of those nubies at kiss lol. You are so right I am a 4b also. I have been stretching for 3 months almost 4 months. Because I saw Tracy and others with long hair stretch. Thanks for your perspectives on stretching.

  • i stretch about 10-16 weeks to help my new growth grow more. has nothin to do with retaining lenght for me. in fact, i've never heard of such. and and i have the same type of hair (4b) and so i kno exactly what u sayin when u talkin about no matter how gentle u r, it still breaks. our hair texture is just week like that unfortunately :-(. Great video. love the topic

  • @lifelinegmail - awww, I'm sorry to hear that. People have reported that JBCO and just castor oil in general helps to make hair thicker...maybe you have already tried that but if not, its a suggestion. Thanks for watching!

  • @petranilla14 - agreed. that is definitely something to consider! thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @PastorTraci - girl, IDK what happened, but i thank you for continuing to listen...I may try to re-upload it soon.

  • @Sharol03 - great point, summer vs. winter can definitely influence your stretch length. thanks for watching!
