I only play WH Fantasy Battle. I never got into 40K as my wallet became incredibly thin assembling my Skaven army.

Also Gamesworkshop have a pricing and marketing team that seem to assume all their customers have access to their parent's pension funds or have more disposable income than the Shah of Iran.
