Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are starting to gather in North American backyards in preparation for their Migration 2011 down to South America. This video is of one such bird in a Talking Rock, North Central Georgia, front yard in early September. In this video, she busies herself preening her feathers for close to 4 minutes. During that time, she also: Ducks and postures at drive-by flock mates; contemplates a nosey Yellow Jacket Wasp buzzing just off-screen; ponders two different passing trucks; sticks her tongue out; and poops (twice). Busy little bugger, she is..!
Thank you, giraffepoo..! I love these guys.. Just started putting up feeders in earnest last year.. Three days of rainy weather due to storm (Lee) brought a noticeable number of new ones into yard this week.. Major Hummingbird territory smackdowns going on as a result.. Going to miss them when they migrate in a few weeks.. :))
