After Kris invited John out, he asked another guest up to the stage, Joan Baez. They did an old Prine tune, Kris and Joan did this one together in the early 70's I think. Enjoy. From The Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA.

  • I was lucky enough to have seen Joan Baez, Kris and Dylan in the 60's. I saw John Prine in the 70's. Very few "critics" took Kris and Dylan seriously because of their voices but they could not attack their writings. Joan Baez pushed Bob into performing in the early 60's in The Village. To listen to them today makes me feel fortunate that they are still with us. All of these people are very talented. Show me someone today that can stand up so well over time like them. Glad to have been around.

  • Joan Baez fares the worst of the three people singing in this video. The fact that she sings so badly now does take away from the way she once sang. She just didn't know when to quit. Who considered her the pinaccle voice of folk music? Not me. Or do I have to consider her the pinaccle voice on somebody else's say so? What if I prefer Joni Mitchell's voice or Judy Collins' or Mary Travers' or Mama Cass ?

  • @westeightyone

I saw both Prine and Goodman perform at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago before Kristofferson discovered them and gave a boost to their careers. Today their voices are not what they once were anymore than Baez's voice. Back in those days Baez's voice was considered the pinnacle voice of folk music. You don't have to sell me on how great Prine was but that doesn't take anything away Baez.

  • @overtheradar Do a Youtube search and listen to how great this brilliant song sounds when John Prine sings it alone. His early version is miles ahead of Baez's early version. He did the song better than her then just as he did it better than she did it in this video. Cutting Baez slack for singing awful because she's old is ageist. If you had never heard Joan Baez sing before would you be impressed with the way that she is

singing the song in this video ?

  • @westeightyone You need to listen to Baez perform "Hello in There" on her 1975 album 'Diamonds and Rust'. It is stunning. When you listen to someone old sing you can''t compare them to their voice from 30 to 40 years ago. When Sinatra was in his seventies someone once said 'listen to him with your heart, not your ears'.

  • @annzup57 You battle throat cancer like Prine and see how well your voice holds up.

  • I love all 3, but the 3 were off key!

  • @pointofgrille It would be if he lived in a munitions factory. Joan Baez shot holes in Prine's song.
