Too bad you lost horsepower doing that mod hahaha...the stock intake is actually really good because it has a "ram air" effect. Go look at some of the dynos. The Stillen gen 3 is the best intake for the g37 because it puts the filters behind the grill. The Takeda and Injen CAI are good as well.

To put things plain and simple a car runs on air fuel and spark every-time you increase something you need to compensate e.i increased air flow you would likely have to give the car more fuel and spark to see actual power without losses somewhere else (bottom end) then you get into back pressure problems don't do intakes without exhaust it's pointless it makes it easier for it to breath but can't push the exhaust through that stock shit under your car.

wow i love that dual intake system nissan made! Although, I don't really know if it helps or if it is just there for appeal. I have a '03 CL 6-Speed myself, LOVE IT!
