First Newsboys concert w/ Michael Tait: The Mission

I had the pleasure of getting to go see the newesboys tonight and I was somewhat disappointed. I went to their website this afternoon, and I saw that "Michael Tait to Join Newsboys". I am not sure what Peter is going off to do, because he is what makes the newsboys, the newsboys.

I am not sure how I feel about the change, and Peter will be missed. That being said, some of you may not realize that Michael Tait hails from what was probably Christian music's most popular rock band ever. They were bigger than the Newsboys, and they put on just as good of a live show. All I am saying is give it a chance to work, and respect that Peter wants to spend time with his family.

You seem very Christ like... lol Guess what... This schlump made 3 platinum albums... One of those was 2x's platinum. This schlump won 4 Grammy Awards. This schlump helped make a record that appeared 4th on the Billboard 200. Michael Tait isn't a nobody. He's one of the most successful Christian artist of all time who broke down walls for new artist to emerge. I know this is going to make everyone mad but yes, Tait is far more successful than the Newsboys themselves.

I think this leave for Peter is well deserved.I mean,he has been on the road or in the studio nonstop with the Newsboys and other artists for 23 years and he really deserves the break.

Kevin's healthy. I dunno about his lungs or liver though. ;) He lost a lot of that weight from 2 years ago. But he overuses his voice, in my opinion, adds to much to songs, and his heart isn't really in the right place. Plus he hates CCM. This is coming from a die hard dc Talk fan, btw. Tait's voice is more similar than Kevin's. And we all know Kevin wouldn't play in a pop Christian band like the Newsboys. I don't even know if he's capable of being in a band period.

Yes, Michael Tait has been successful. Best voice for the job?  No. Condition to withstand a Newsboys show? Yes. Best voice for the job, you ask? Kevin Max....Condition to withstand a Newsboys show or tour? Nope. I feel Kevin Max has one of best voices in the whole music industry, and it seems his talent is going to waste. Forgive me, but the last time I saw footage of Kevin Max, he didn't appear too heathy. Hope he's okay. Sorry for rambling, but a fit Kevin Max/Newsboys? Perfect.

For everyone who thinks Michael Tait sounds terrible, check out the songs on his Myspace page. He sounds perfectly fine in those songs. I don't know what the big deal is with saying Michael Tait is bad at singing.

Gnat, dctalk sold more recordings than the Newsboys ever will. Don't misunderstand my point though. I like both bands very much. Having been involved in a Christian Music Festival for about 12 years, I have had the opportunity to see and meet these bands live several times. I am not saying that Tait can replace Peter. What I am saying is, given the fact that Peter was going to step down, there could have been much worse replacements then somebody with a successful past in music.
