Miss Healy achieved early fame as the model for an innovative skating book, "A Very Young Skater". She competed successfully, but focused her talents on the ballet world. Dick Button even created an unusual ballet competition which featured her and was televised on PBS for a few years.
She spent many years performing ballet in Europe, and often appears in innovative skating specials from time to time. (Wish we could have an innovative skating special these days!!!)
Papillon is an unusual small butterfly with prominent ears (antenna)!! (Also the name of a small dog with extravagant ears) I wonder if that was some kind of dig by John Curry??.....but certainly no one would notice your ears, if you skate like this!!!!!

Just to tell you that "papillon" just means "butterfly" in English, any kind of butterfly really.

This was filmed in a TV studio in Toronto in early 1980 when Healy was 11 for a cable special on John Curry's Company. Le Papillon is a score composed by Offenbach and it is also the French word for butterfly. Curry liked the music and thought it suited her age and abilities at that time. There was no dig, intentional or otherwise, in the choice of music.

merely a glimpse of things to cohen....:P she was great, some interesting comments about her in toller's 'zero tollerance'.
loved the ice theatre ideas, wished it had become bigger. hardly anyone attempts to put a tank on stage and have an ice spectacular. perhaps soon...
and as always arigato goziemusu for the beautiful and rare videos!!! i'll go look, but do you have the peggy fleming/curry skating circles to philip glass?
