  • That vid brings back memories...next time Pro Tools hangs, I'm gonna remind myself how happy I am to not be paying $200 for a 16-minute reel of 2" tape! Thanks for posting!

  • djcsr, right, it was expensive to run a studio in those days, whole different ball game.

  • Hey Madjef. Did he ever become a producer that you know of (or anything related in the field)?

  • I don't think so, but i don't know for sure. I do know That single "Heaven" sold a bunch, he might have made some money, invested in real estate and could be somewhere living off the interest. :) the record business was big money in those days.

  • Did Sergio get a writer's credit for his one line lol!

  • therealjasonwhite, guess what. He did receive a limited term writers credit on the track. no joke. :)

  • @wendileona Yes, you have a good point there. Also, the limitations of the equipment forced engineers to think. I honestly believe that working with i/o consoles and 2" gave me skills that would be a lot harder to obtain working with a DAW today. But you're right... every third ass with a PC and some software is a "producer" or "mastering engineer" etc. Let the product speak for them though, lol.

  • @djcsr Expensive studios and music production - and that was great! Because it kept out all the untalented thugs and posers OUT of making popular music. Thats why music made back then and before that was great, record companies were very selective on WHO entered into the world of music making. Now, with ProTools and a sampler app can make music, and popular music from R&B to white Rock simply sucks.

  • I can't believe that! One line and he got a credit for a while. Mad props to Jimmy and Terry for that!

  • boogie504, dayum!!! . for real though. I think I look better now :) LOL.
