This could happen when a wrong value fuse is inserted in a fuseboard.
In this case I used a standard appliance lead ( ex coffee machine ) rated at 7.5 Amps, 3/4 mm² on a 10 Amp socket.
Current passed through the lead was around 63 Amps which is a commonly used Amperage of a mains fuse in New Zealand.
Within a short period the lead overheats, emits toxic smoke and starts to burn.

I made this video to make people aware how important it is not to tamper with fuses.
Always use the correct fuse value !

  • Awwwsome power from just one battery !

  • @kooashoo The battery is to hold the cable off the ground.

This is reduced mains voltage with no fuse. Around 60 Volts 50 Hz

  • This is why you never jam a nail into a fuse socket.

  • @otrab1080 Correct

  • wow you are the New Zealand equal of Photonicinduction.

  • @Balarick LOL !!

But Photonic is more extreme .

  • Huh, seems really safe to hold your burning wire up with a BATTERY.

  • @RODALCO2007 I beleive he was being humerous

  • LONGLIFE MY ASS

  • @Balarick EXACTLY! i was going to say that!

  • What no protective conductor!!! ground / earth or |CPC or what ever.

I suppose it was a none conductive environment, your wooden box- so that was ok, The wood box, Which incidentally is also a prefect material chamber for your 'Controlled combustion environment'. The Green party will be really keen on the Toxic gases you were releasing.

  • @RODALCO2007 I suppose 63 is a sub multiple of 1000, eg 1000,500,125,63, 30/32 etc

  • its The Meltey Cord.
