London Tamil Protest: Chief Government Whip of Parliament and Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, Dinesh Gunawardena stood up to requesting time for an urgent message. He said for security reasons the speech by his Excellency the President at the Oxford Union, the home of free speech has been cancelled. This is a decision that has been made unilaterally by the Oxford Union, reportedly as a result of pressure applied by pro-LTTE activists. "There is a member in this house who deals with an organization, which is proscribed by the constitution. He has been to London prior to President's visit and organized the protest. He is none other than Jayalath Jayawardana. An investigation should be conducted about this traitor, murderer, terrorist," shouted Chief Government Whip of Parliament and Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, Dinesh Gunawardena.

With these words the house got heated with Government Ministers coming forward to the center of the Parliament hall, directly in front of Dr. Jayalath Jayawardana (MP -- UNP). It was seen that Deputy Minister of Health; Lalith Dissanayake, Minister of Environment Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and Deputy Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities; Lasantha Alagiyawanna, and Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways; Nirmala Kotalawala looking for a chance to beat Dr. Jayalath Jayawardana (MP -- UNP) who stood up shouting "let me explain, let me explain, let me explain. I was not there. Here is my passport, check it."

Britain failed to clear obstacles against a State Leader to express views freely -- Media Minister

Minister for Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella says that if any tried to inject life to resuscitate the LTTE terrorists from their death bed, it is the most treacherous act one can perform against the Nation, further adding that such perpetrators will never be pardoned by the nation.

The Media Minister emphasized this referring to the protest campaigns launched by LTTE terrorist elements in London recently.

Certain elements which nurtured LTTE terrorism in the country in the past were still attempting to revive terrorism which had been totally eradicated from the island added the Minister.

At the same time the Minister declared that Britain which was preaching to the world about five star democracy and the menace of terrorism had clearly displayed its inefficiency and cowardice to the world by failing to clear obstruction placed against a State Leader to express his views freely in its domain.

Meanwhile the Minister stressed the fact that countries like Britain should take a leaf from Sri Lanka and resolve not to cow down in the face of terrorist tactics
