  • @sweetfly66 Jesus christ, do you not understand the word "possibilities"? Again, you are right, it would make more SENSE to write it in a 12/8 measure, but does that mean that it can't be written in 6/8? NO! Honestly dude, we're both right. Stop acting like I'm saying something that's wrong.

  • @PaddleMaster47 ... fine but if you are going to write it in an 8th note based meter , then it has to be 12/8 ...not 6/8 .... at least in 12/8 the backbeat is landing in a place that makes sense ..in 6/8 the backbeat is landing on beat 1 .

  • @sweetfly66 ..............as previously stated, this is a TRIPLET shuffle. Therefore, it can be thought of in 6/8 time. EVERYTHING YOU ARE SAYING IS RIGHT, but I'm simply trying to say that this groove DOES in fact work in 6/8. Like I said before, it is BETTER thought of in 4/4, but that does not constitute and inability to count the groove in a 6/8 time signature. Mathematically, this groove can be written in 6/8, as you stated yourself. That is what I'm trying to get across.

  • @PaddleMaster47 .... mathematically sure , you can write this in 6/8 ...if you want the backbeat on beat 1 of every measure ... you dont think that is wrong ? ...did you try counting the dotted quarter note against the song ... because the dotted quarter is just as valid counting in 6/8 as counting the 8th notes ... and if you count the dotted quarter , out loud , you will hear clear as day that it just does not work ... count 4/4 quarter notes then 6/8 8th notes ...right and wrong is obvious

  • @sweetfly66 It's a triplet shuffle. 6/8 is based off of triplets in C. Therefore, it can be thought of in 6/8.

  • @PaddleMaster47 ... i`m not trying to be a ball buster but it does matter .... try this ..count the dotted quarter note in 6/8 against the tune .... you`ll be counting 1 , 2 , 1 , 2 .... it doesnt fit in the song .

  • @sweetfly66 Okay, that doesn't make a difference. As previously stated, this is BETTER thought of 4/4, but it can still be written in 6/8.
