While the Earth's climate is pushed further out of balance by increasing use of fossil fuels, ExxonMobil continues to assert undue influence around the world—making record profits while ignoring climate science for which there has been overwhelming consenus for over ten years.

"Out of Balance" does not just critique ExxonMobil, it also offers challenging, large-scale ideas for the global social changes that must take place if there's any chance of having a livable planet for future generations.

We have technology for alternatives like electric cars that do 300 miles per charge and accelerate fast; people would like to be able to buy them. Companies like Exxon Mobil lobbied to help prevent consumers from having that choice. Chevron even managed to suppress the NiMH battery that made electric cars viable in the 1990s.

Oilies and government aren't letting us have alternatives. They'd rather present us a choice of sacrifice or business as usual. No surprise what people would pick.
