Create a Transparent Video Layer in After Effects to Use in Vegas

I created button in photoshop and saved as PNG, checked its transparent, inported PNG file in AE and animated it, checked the button with transparency its transparent, DID SAME THING AS U DID HERE and still behind my button everything is black, this is frustrating why is it not working

@petenicezz Use photoshop, create your text image, delete the background, then save as a .png file.

do you know how can i make text with the background transparent so that i could use it in sony vegas. because it keeps coming out with a black background when I add to sony vegas and when i set to screen or add the text fades a little and i could see my video behind it. I'm trying to add a text from AE on top of a video and it keeps showing the video through the text.
