Onboard with Jarno Trulli during the 2009 Australian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton overlayed on the pit radio.

Safety car is out, Trulli went off the track and was overtaken by Hamilton. McLaren mistakenly ordered Hamilton to let the Toyota through and subsequently lied to race stewards denying they ever did. When Hamilton's pit-car radio was discovered Hamilton was disqualified for lying to the race stewards.

  • Ok, I may be a Ferrari fan but even I admit that he shouldn't have deserved this penalty. I just don't think some people have actually watched this video. You must be retarded to think that Hamilton deserved that penalty.

  • Its amazing, i still dont see why he was DQed, they didnt gain anything from it, so they lost an position and then got DQed, FIA are a bunch of silly pricks, theyve made a lot of bad calls in the past, and this adds to it.

  • The FIA punished Lewis on the grounds of 'lying in behalf of the team'...I mean whats Lewis supposed to do? "My team are liars, this is not what happened...oh btw, once I leave this interview do you have a job ready for me please?" FIA are a bunch of fuckin nitwits but everyone knows that already.

  • Hamilton shouldn't have been punished, but McLaren? Definitely.

They should've at least let Lewis keep P4. He merely trusted his team.

Hell, I'm a Massa fan and I still think this whole situation was ridiculous and that Lewis did not deserve this.

  • @x420Raptor1 If you catch someone attempting to cheat, you have to punish them so they don't try it again. If there were no punishment, it indicates there is no risk in lying and cheating. As for the type of punishment, the fines the FIA give out are laughably insignificant and practically put a currency on cheating. The only way to really hurt the team is results and championship points. I have no sympathy for Hamilton: he lied as part of an effort to have another driver unfairly disqualified.

  • @x420Raptor1 - Have you forgotten that Hamilton blatantly lied to the stewards to get that 3rd place and Trulli was initially disqualified?

If it was Alonso who did this you'd be in hysterics. He got a penalty, deal with it.

  • @x420Raptor1 @KieranF1Kimi Hamilton was DQ'd because he and Ryan lied to the FIA. It wasn't because of any overtaking maneuvers made by Hamilton or Trulli, it was because Hamilton and Ryan lied to governing body.

  • The real question is what made them think they would get away with it.

  • i dont get it, y did he get a dq???

  • Well served, Lewes is being dick 24/7

  • Fair enough, Lewis was in the meeting as well.

  • I've lost so much respect for Mclaren since 2007.

The whole debacle with Alonso then various instances of bad cheating.

Mclaren are such a shady team and I don't think even Lewis likes it. I reckon hell go to red bull in 2012 if Adrian Newey is still there but you know he really wants a Ferrari drive.
