@gigel1bucur You are wrong, my Balkan friend. These academic dresses are certainly UK-US export. With regard to German academic milieu - we, the Czechs know it very well (Czechia was almost 400 years deeply influenced by the Germans/Austrians). But I assure you that these riciculous costumes have no roots in Central Europe.
