From the Steelers vs Detroit game on 12/31/05. The crowd was so loud that you can't hear the announcer introduce Jerome.

Everyone there knew it was his last game in front of the home crowd. The noise built up as each player was introduced. The place went nuts when his name was called.

The Steelers had to win this game to keep their playoff hopes alive. But since it was the last game of the season, in the morning after a major partying holiday, and against the lowly Detroit Lions, most people there we there to cheer for Jerome.

The Terrible Towels were out in force. The one that pops into the frame at the end was from my 8yr old son who was attending his first Steeler game. We drove 3 hours each way to get there.

Twice during the game, the jumbotron played a highlight video of Jerome that really pumped the crowd up.

Go Steelers!

  • * shivers *

  • u cant even heard a word he said

got nothing on steeler nation <3

  • dude anyone know what that song is in the backround?!

  • I miss Jerome. I think the Steelers really do too. I think he would help keep them in check today.

  • Man I would've loved to have been there.. that atmosphere was electric, being Bus's last game and that we needed to win to even get in the playoffs. Jerome Bettis to the Hall of Fame in 2011!

  • chills!

  • I thought the game was 1/1/06 actually.... but I WAS THERE!! It was awesome!!

  • The amazing thing is this: I remember on draft day of 1996 when the Steelers got Bettis from the Rams for a couple of draft picks (2nd and 4th rounders). I sort of knew who he was, but didn't understand. The Rams had given up on him for a guy named Lawrence Phillips to be the future of the St. Louis Rams. I think the Steelers made out good....two draft picks for a guy who was at the time the 5th leading rusher in NFL history, much less the guy who shamelessly took Mom and Dad to every game.

  • I pledge allegiance to the flag

    of the united Steeler nation.

And to the franchise for which it stands.

    One nation, of domination.

With the ability to crush you all.

  • This was the first game I ever went too..I still remember everyone chanting "One More Year"..I miss JB =/
