  • For me it is not obvious because you don't show it with leather. I prefer not only talking about the skiver , but just SHOWING HOW TO USE THE SKIVER WITH REAL LEATHER and which kinds of leather. So I and everyone else CAN REALLY SEE HOW YOU HOLD YOUR HANDS WITH PASSING, PULLING OR PUSHING THE LEATHER AT THE BEGINNING and the rest through the skiver. That is what can learn me more.

  • @MrPriveprive It's obvious how it works. The washer gives the gap between blade and pipe, which determines the thickness cut. A 1mm gap will cut 1mm thick. You place the leather between the blade and pipe and pull it through. By removing or adding washers you raise or lower the blade and thereby alter the thickness cut.

  • Hi, I am disappointed you just talk about it and don't show how to use it.

Please show the excact use with leather. That will be much clearer.

  • SKY....VER

  • @labrat7357 Hi, Just seen your post! I just made a comment on the blade position, basically saying same. :)

  • sweet, an example of good internet use.......thanks

  • Hell, yeah. Nice work. I never thought of doing something like that. Thanks for giving me the idea!

  • Hi, I like inovative ideas. A couple of points that may help are firstly the blades as they come from the packet are not sharp enough to do the job. Get some compound on a strop made from stiff card glued to a board (leather has too much give and will round the edge). Next position the blade so under load the tips of the blade are pulled back and locate against the bolt, providing a positive retention of the blade not just relying on being gripped between the washers.

  • Wow..this is a blind side idea !! i was gonna spend a hell of money on skiver for small size projects materials!! ; )

  • Nice vid, I've been thinking about something like this for a while, this gives me a great starting point
