Too much of the world lacks access to clean drinking water. Engineer Michael Pritchard did something about it -- inventing the portable Lifesaver filter, which can make the most revolting water drinkable in seconds. An amazing demo from TEDGlobal 2009.

  • wait a minute, can this actually stop the transmission of HIV, WHY DO I ASK, WELL IF HIV VIRUS IS LARGER THAN THIS PURIFYING HOLES, THEN THE THE VIRUS WOULD STOP TRANSMISSION TO THE NEXT GENERATION? IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE WILL REACH A GENERATION WITHOUT HIV AND STDs?

  • How the heck does this only have 23,000 views? Seriously?

  • $20 Billion to end World Water "Shortage"

    that's (10) B-2 Bombers

  • The human brain is amazing, truly. It's great when it's used this way :)

  • @ilikeost If you want to know about clean drinking water in Africa you might want to read up on US depleted uranium ammunition used in Libya and Gaddaffi's great man made lake. BTW the nuclear weapons industry could cost us helluva lot more lives than those who die from cholera/diarhea. Again, approve of the gadget not of the sponsor. It's like Durex sponsoring a kindergarten.

  • @misterbonzai08 Yeah because nuclear bombs has everything to do with clean drinking water in africa... How ironic...

  • Hi, I'm one of the 2 people that disliked this video. The gadget itself is awesome. The guy demonstrating it is awesome. The company 'GE' or 'General Electric' advertised at the beginning however produce neutron generators for nuclear bombs... which is kinda ironic.

  • This was such an excellent presentation!

    Stupendous.
