Richard Nixon was Vice President of Pepsi for several years after he lost to JFK. That was a pay-off for Nixon having coaxed Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev to be photographed chugging a bottle of Pepsi during an international trade show in the late 50s- a PR coup for Pepsi (and Nixon too, I guess)

Stern is great in this. He plays it so straight. Not for laughs. I get a kick out his scenes in this film. I'm not an American, and those kids are portrayed as dreadful. I've taught kids before, but been lucky enough to see them years later, and they come to me and say that I was the best teacher they ever had. I guess that's the pay off for sometimes having to put up with the minor nuisances::-) .
