On September 9, the Hyundai Gives Hope September Initiative presented another Hope Grant to Broward Health Foundation and the Chris Evert Children's Hospital. The funds will be used to increase the staff at Chris Evert by hiring a Child Life Specialist and a Clinical Nurse Specialist to help the patients and their families cope with the battle again cancer.
The Hyundai team was greeted by a large "Thank You!" poster inside the Teen Room located at Chris Evert. Several of the facilities children took part in creating the poster to show their appreciation for Hyundai's support. CEO James Thaw thanked Hyundai repeatedly for making the fight against childhood cancer a priority. James himself got choked up during his speech and everyone could tell just how much this meant to him and his staff.
When speaking with Rita Frantz who heads up the nursing staff at the hospital, we asked her exactly what she would say to parents dealing with cancer in their families. "Hope," she replied. "Never give up hope and remember that there are people out there that will never say 'No' and will do whatever it takes to help a child in their time of need.
