Mrs. Gayla L. Capers was an educator and administrator for more than 25 years. She had a true love and was dedicated to helping children learn, grow and develop into their full potential. In addition to her love for children, she possessed an equal passion for shoes. Unfortunately, Gayla was tragically killed in an automobile accident on April 17, 2009.

We believe by combining Gayla's passion for children and shoes, we've found the "perfect way" to honor her memory. With the support of Mr. Joseph Capers and their two children, Aaron and Rashael, we believe this effort will have worldwide impact, especially in the lives of children.

"The Perfect Fit" Project is to commemorate and celebrate Gayla's 50th Birthday and life's legacy.

Gayla's sister, Elder Cathy Moffitt of Heartfelt International Ministries (HIM) and the Christian Women's Leadership Development (CWLDP) program has partnered with Shoes for Orphan Souls, a ministry of Buckner International that distributes more than 1.8 million pairs of new tennis shoes to at-risk children across the United States and to orphans in 68 countries around the world.

Project Purpose & Mission: To collect and deliver 500+ new pairs of tennis shoes to Shoes for Orphan Souls by Thursday, August 12, 2010 to commemorate the 50th birthday of Mrs. Gayla L. Capers.

How: Through generous support of friends, members of HIM and the CWLDP Alumnae members collection of tennis shoes ranging from sizes 1 to 12 by August 12, 2010. Monetary donations of $25.00 will also be accepted; this covers the cost for one pair of shoes and shipping.

When and Where: Immediately! You can begin to support this initiative by purchasing a pair(or two) of tennis shoes then dropping donations and shoes off at the HIM Corporate Office, 202 S. Tyler Street, Dallas, Texas 75208. In Houston, contact Andrea L. Mosley at amosley@kamcon.com for drop-off information.

For additional information or if you would like to make a donation, please contact us @ 214-944-1473 or via email at him1523@msn.com
