RealLove productions: In childhood, Dwayne Petty was molested. When he got older, he started doing drugs and being a hustler. At a point in his life, Dwayne realized he needed salvation and turned to Jesus Christ. He then decided to use his gift of rapping for evangelism. He started writing Christian music, etc., under the name of Pettidee.

So yes, he is a Christian, and I personally think the symbols he makes with his hands are probably just out of habit from his hustler days...
