This is the closest most authentic example out there, of the way I remember the old Chicago North Western F units powered up from a stop at the train station in my hometown, Itasca, Illinois back in the 60s. They notched up that way and made no bones about getting quickly underway to the next station on that line from the Loop downtown Chicago to all the Western Suburbs. I thank you for the vivid memories!

Nice looking F's, sounding good; couldn't tell, no DB? and the GP7/9 on the back (not clear enough to tell), what was it's purpose,
push-pull?, and looks like the DB was blanked out.

That high pitch whisting was the Reading caboose I was standing on. The owner put air through the caboose system so he could blow the caboose whiste. Later we even had the air breaks working, lol.
