Shame to see such a good uniform go, i grew up on the BDU and DCU.

What the hell was the army thinking? The ACU is a compromise, both in the material and in camouflage. The material is not thick enough in winter and too thick in summer. The UCP is a poor excuse for camouflage. They should have just digitized the M81 Woodland pattern and kept the three-color desert pattern as it was.

I like the way it looks, the ACU. The digi look is cool but it really doesn't blend w. anything. We should have a more distinct version of the woodland, something different from the Marine Corps.

And I believe they are now switching to the multi-cam pattern.

The army shouldn't have just discarded the BDU. The ACU pattern doesn't work in a forest environment at all. The ACU is only really suited to urban settings and rocky terrain.

i dont understand why the army didn't just use the existing pattern with the new ACU cut(pockets on the arms etc)

1. what happens when war break out in an area where the acu doesn't blend in? 2. did these even work to camouflage soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan?

That may be so but saving money just for a uniform that does not work in every place at once should not,I was suprised the corps came up with the cash to switch to new camo giving that they can't spend alot with the money they get and smaller than the army,They came up with desert and woodland variants for a reason the same goes for the Army,The good thing is that they have finaly wised up and getting woodland,desert and a "third"pattern so no matter what is said grey UCP is dead and burried.
