How to do a basic tiltshift effect in Pixelmator to simulate model photography.

  • 1- duplicate the layer

    2- Gaussian blur top layer with low value

    3- add a layer mask

    4- create a gradient on that mask to make the focused area transparent on the top layer:

    a) create a new gradient

    b) the extreme stops should be black

    c) center spots white, a but away from the center (play around)

    d) validate

    e) paint in the layer mask with the gradient until you get the result wanted.

  • any idea how to tilt text? move doesn't do it

  • Tilt Shift effect simulates miniaturization.

    In other words, it's as if the picture you had taken was made with miniatures.

  • He asked what did your editing do. Your picture looks exactly the same.
