The latest Temple Bet Breira SamuEl Or Olom (BBSOO) Men's Club Breakfast Meeting was called to order by President Al Levine at 9:30 on January 10, 2010
after minyan prayers (led by Dr. David Tobolowsky),
who introduced Richard Freer, CoChair, SOUTH FLORIDIANS FOR THE SAFETY & SECURITY OF ISRAEL. RF lauded the achievements of Prof. Charles Milgrom, MD, his college (U of Chicago) classmate who co-founded INNOWATTECH, which was written up ("Good Vibrations") in the January issue of JERUSALEM MAGAZINE. Secondly, Freer mentioned the big weekly rallies in support of Israel held at the Ft. Lauderdale federal building...see the website DefendJerusalem. Finally, he congratulated Elmer Marmorstein, noted architect and builder-developer, Holocaust Survivor, and Uncle of Cantor Rabbi Danny Marmorstein...on his 80th birthday on the 29th of January. The main speaker Cantor David B. Sislen was then introduced who elaborated on the topic 'LET A SONG BE YOUR GUIDE--HOW MUSIC SETS THE SCENE FOR PRAYER. Use of music in worship, music in Jewish ritual history, and modern musical tools and their purposes, and the role of the modern Hazzan were elaborated upon with vocal samples.
