An intangible human computer interface for music performance made in max/msp and jitter with cv.jit.hsflow externals. The two boxes show the camera input and the amount of pixel displacement per frame in each direction. This is then scaled, smoothed and converted into midi data running into ableton live. This patch is in its initial development stages. Feedback and comments will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, you could achieve this quite easily using jit.findbounds in Max/MSP.

  • nice I've been wanting to do something like this , but with the remote tracking of color technique . So It only sees my fingertips if painted. Any suggestions?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your interest.

This tracking method is concerned with movement (Pixel Displacement) in a certain, but combined direction rather than the remote tracking of colour, therefore waring a glove would not improve this method. The idea with this project was to remove any physicality between user and outcome in a hope that these types of interactions could become more immediate and playful.

  • interesting have you thought about limiting the spectral range to reds and wearing gloves it might prove to be more controllable
