Mega Man 9 - Hornet Man

I love the theme for this stage, both with the motif and the music. I never expected Mega Man to go through a flower garden, considering they aren't known to be dangerous places. Skyscraper tops in Tornado Man's place, underneath a volcano in Magma Man's stage, and a space station with Galaxy Man, but a flower garden?

This is one you wouldn't want to set foot in. Hedge trimmers that assemble themselves and launch themselves at you in the air? Planting pots with a huge supply of homing flowers? And a deadly boss who uses a flower clock as a weapon? I love the level of creativity in this stage.

But as for Hornet Man himself, I don't understand why people suggest to take him on first. You have no extra powers, and you have no Energy Tanks or M-Tanks (whatever the "M" stands for). After numerous deaths to Hornet Man--this will be the first Mega Man 9 video to not document every death, for time reasons and because it gets very repetitive, I've come to the conclusion that I cannot beat Hornet Man with just the Mega Buster and no Energy Tanks.

In fact, I took 1 hour 27 minutes at this, according to my capture device's timer. I'm convinced there's some trick to Hornet Man I'm just not figuring out, as I've seen videos of Hornet Man being finished lickety-split with the Mega Buster. In the previous video, the seemingly unstoppable Magma Man had a crippling weakness in his attack patterns that, while not obvious at first, made him so easy that this battle wasn't even close. Hornet Man must have something similar. I get the feeling my inability to eliminate those hornets fast enough has something to do with it.

Still, I find Plug Man to be a lot harder. I only needed oe Energy Tank for this (or an M-Tank, as I had no E-Tanks left).

He is my favorite robot master of Megaman 9, both because of music and difficulty of stage. I call the stage "Hazard Hive" because there are so many enemies. I hate his weapon, though as it has few uses to me.

as long as you have the Black Hole bomb to counter his hornet attack he isn't all that hard.

@mrgameandpie I chose to approach this game using nothing but the Mega Buster during the Robot Master fights. This is so that I can learn the intricacies of each Robot Master's fighting styles.

I ain't played Megaman 9, but Blast Hornet is very hard. One of the worst bosses of Megaman X3.
